Kenny Shiloh Russell (they/them) is a Panamanian-Jamaican transmasculine lesbian and interdisciplinary artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Specializing in photography and movement, Russell’s work is informed by their connection to land and to the Afro-Caribbean diasporic experience.
As a former liturgical pianist and trumpeter, Russell now views sound and movement as a means for release. Their work interrogates the definition of fluidity in all forms, from literal depictions of the environment to abstract explorations of gender. Russell’s work toes the line between passion and tenderness; an ever evolving display of reverence to the intimate nature of connection.
